"Defeat is an adversary of the brave".
The righteous path to glory and fame is not laid with roses. It is a journey that demands steel-cored will, unshakeable temperament, stable conscience and most deterministic of all, demeanor of a champion!!
2015.
Year of cricket world cup. One man walks out to bat. His team is in utter despair. Some of the most reputable international players had their feathers ruffled by one of the most hostile bowling attacks of the tournament. Talent, commitment and integrity have bitten dust.
In such a calamity, could it so happen that one man's indomitable spirit, zeal to win and harmonious disposition kick back all odds to resurrect the doomed??
That we will see.
Cricket is a gentleman's game. However, that hasn't stopped the swirling evolution that it has become today. Evolved, it has. Today, cricket is a relatively swift sport, producing some quintessentially riveting contests. Gone are the days of Hobbs and boycott or for that matter, bedi or prasabna. Modern cricket is accelerating faster than it ever has with coming of an era that has spectated unprecedented belcose. Pride is the sanctimonious prize that everyone plays for, inevitably.
We now come back to the match in progress. My beloved team is in dismay. They stare a catastrophic defeat. With A.R just dismissed, the chase which started off on a promising note is suddenly looking bleak and seemingly, going down the Aussie sewers. However, standing at the non-striker's end is our captain. He seems resolute. Unwilling to succumb to 'defeat'. The game is far from lost, optimistic Indians could percieve. There's this thing we are used to, as true indians brought up in India. Pinning hopes on the improbable, churning into dust all odds that may exist. Not silly, entirely though. India is a country where miracles stand to happen every second and people entertain themselves with ridiculous superstitions. Its transcends rationality but prayers can prove to be very effective. Even the Heavens above interest cricket, apparently.
But, 100+ runs under 6 odd covers. That's a lot asking from Lord Ganesha.
Hey, a six.
Another one.
Did I just offend Ganeshji with my words? Am I witnessing a turnaround here? The man with the midas touch is going berserk. There's a solitary way to win now. WHACK & WHIP !! Sensational scenes at the Sydney cricket ground as we see the ball sailing over the fence. The crowd is up on its feet. Mexican waves are enveloping SCG.
And it is vibrantly shining in one colour, blue. The wave is bleeding blue!!
P.s: Team India eventually lost this tie to a roaring and resounding team australia who went on to lift the world cup this year. But the match will be remembered for one man. Arguably, his last world cup match as captain. A certain Mahendra Singh dhoni. A man from a small city who dared to dream big with sedate idiosyncrasy and breakthrough intellect. His emergence and those of many others, with humble backgrounds is apocalyptic of a new India. A growing India. A place where we dream and make happen. We are no longer pushovers. We fight instead of skulking away. We don't give up. This is what the likes of Dhoni, Shahrukh khan, medha patkar and others have taught us.
C'mon India ! So, are you a dhoni or a pussyfoot?? Think..
